uniquely identify its citizen. For example, the USA has a system called “Social Security Number”
Which is given to every American Citizen. This number is unique and is
essential and is a must for availing various government services.
Meanwhile, in India, we use the Aadhaar Card given by the Unique Identification Authority of India.
Aadhar Card is becoming an essential identification document for
various government services and utilities. Aadhaar enrolments are being
done by UIDAI in 34 states and Union territories. Now you can check the
Aadhar card status online from the official UIDAI website.
The UIDAI website allows a bouquet of services to every Aadhar card holder. It is possible to track your Aadhar card status online. You can check your Aadhar card status to see if your Aadhaar is generated or other services such as your Aadhar card correction status if you made a correction in your Aadhar Card because there was a mistake when they first issued your Aadhar Card.
Before checking your Aadhar Card status online from the UIDAI website, you have to enrol yourself to the Aadhar card program. When you first enrol to the unique identification program you will be given an EID or Enrolment ID. This EID is essential to check your Aadhar card status online.

To see Aadhar Card Status Check, go to the official UIDAI website and click the Enrol and Get Aadhaar button and proceed to Aadhaar Status. There you will see fill up the box with a heading “Check if Aadhaar is Generated”. Enter your 28-digit Enrolment ID by entering the Enrolment Number in the first box and date and time in the second box. Make sure that you enter the numbers in the correct format as prescribed by the website. After that carefully enter the security code and click Check Status. If your card is generated then you can see your Aadhar card update status.

To retrieve your EID, click on the Retrieve Lost EID/UID button which is located on the top of the same page.

This section allows you to retrieve your Aadhaar Number (UID) or Enrolment Number. All you have to do is to fill up the required field including your name, email and mobile number and click “Send One Time Password” button below. Make sure you enter the correct details. You will receive an OTP number on your mobile and enter that OTP number into the Enter OTP field on the website and click “Verify OTP”.

If your details are correct you will get the UID or EID.

Aadhaar Enrolment is free of cost. You can enrol for Aadhaar at any Aadhaar Enrolment Center in the country. To enrol you are required to visit an Enrolment Centre. At the centre fill and submit the Enrolment Form, get your Biometric data captured and submit the requisite documents. The biometric data comprises of facial photograph+ ten fingerprints + two iris scans. Even children between zero to five years can also get enrolled.
You can also verify your Email and Mobile number to know if it is registered or not. This feature can be used to verify the email address and mobile number that has been declared during enrolment or latest successful processed update request. Click on the Verify Email/Mobile number link and it will take you to a new page. Just enter your 12-digit Aadhaar Number along with your email address and mobile number which you have declared on your Aadhaar and obtain the One Time Password. Use the OTP received on our mobile to verify OTP. Now you will see whether your email address and mobile number is registered or not.

What happens if you lost your Enrolment ID?

In case you changed your mobile number or you wish to change the registered Email, you are required to get it updated in your Aadhaar as soon as possible. No documents required to be submitted for Mobile and Email update. But it’s mandatory now that you need to link your mobile number with your Aadhar card as per the latest rule by Indian government. So make sure you do that as well.You can also verify your Email and Mobile number to know if it is registered or not.
