Make Aadhar card correction online
Most of our details in Aadhaar card are not correct or up-to-date. If you have entered an incorrect mobile number or wrong address while applying for Aadhar card, you can correct it online doing these simple steps mentioned as follows:- Go to Aadhaar Self Service Portal here
- Enter your Aadhaar card number in the box shown. Fill the text verification in the box provided and click send OTP. A one-time password will be sent to your mobile number which you used to register with the Aadhar card. You can use this code to login to your Aadhaar account. This is to ensure that only you can edit your details.
- After the authentication process, you will be re-directed to a new page “Data Update Request”. Here you can edit your details and give correct information. Remember while doing this make sure you are entering only correct information because this information will be updated in your Aadhaar card later.
- After making Aadhar card corrections you will be asked to submit a recognised document to validate your request. It depends on what information you edited in the previous step. For example: if you made an edit to your name or middle name, then you will have to attach a copy of some form of identity proof that validates your real name. It can be your driving license or pan card etc.
- Next step is to select a BPO Service Provider. Under the BPO Service Provider section, you need to choose either Aegis or Karvy. Once you have made the selection hit Submit. That’s it.

If you don’t want to make corrections to your Aadhar card online, the government has made it convenient for people to make changes via Postal facility. For this, you need to download “Aadhaar Data Update/Correction Form” from here and follow the below instructions.Things to Remember while making corrections to your Aadhaar card.
- Use CAPITAL LETTERS only.
- Fill the complete form irrespective of what fields you need to make corrections.
- You need to provide your phone number for updating or changing any of the fields.
Let’s start editing the form
First, you need select/tick the fields which you are trying to make the correction.- Aadhaar Number: Enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number
- Resident’s name: Enter your name as in the official records in capital letters
- Gender: Tick the appropriate option
- Date Of Birth: Write your birth date in DD/MM/YYYY format
- Address c/o details: Tick the appropriate option
- Guardian/ Parent/ Spouse Name: Mention the name of person who you have selected the above option
- House/ Bldg. / Apt. : Write your current address where you reside
- Street/Road/Lane: Write your street/road/lane where your house is situated
- Landmark: Write a famous landmark nearby your home
- Area/locality/sector: Select the area/locality/sector where your house is situated
- Village/Town/City: Here you need to write down the village/town/city your home is situated
- District: From which district you are from
- Post Office: Write down the name and location of the post office nearest to your home
- State: From which state you are from
- PIN CODE: Write your pin code for the area your home is situated.
- Mobile Number: Here, ensure that the mobile number entered is your own number and is registered under your name
- Email: This is optional, still you can give your email id if you use one
After you finished filling all of these, you need to mention the Document Details you are attaching as proofs.
Write the documents name you are attaching with the post for proof. Below I will be describing the valid documents the government will accept.- POI (for name correction): Write down the name of the document you are submitting as a proof for name correction
- POI (for name change): Mention the name of document you have attached as a proof of identity for name change
- DOB: Write down the name of document you are attaching for the proof of your date of birth
- POA: Mention the name of the document you have attached as a proof of your residential address
